Event Announcement
The Barony of Blackstone Mountain invites one and all to the 6th Annual Wicker Man Festival the day of November 7th, 2009. The event site is the Jackson County Jr. Fair Grounds (Mailing Address, RT. 2 Box 280, Cottageville, WV 25239, there is no street address). This site is dry and there are no open flames allowed in the buildings. The site is handicapped accessible.
The day’s activities will begin at 10AM and end at 10PM that evening. Fencers will once again mass in great numbers and provide a target rich and challenging environment for those skilled with the blade and mask. Heavy Weapons fighters will have the opportunity to test their stamina and skill in the Bear Pit as well as other heavy activities during the day. Those skilled in archery and or thrown weapons will have targets to test the limits of their art as well.
When night has fallen we will light the Wicker Man filled with our offerings into a mighty blaze illuminating the night sky burning the Wicker Man for all to see far and wide.
For a day of festival, an evening of revelry, and the annual burning of the Wicker Man we ask the consideration of $7. Those between the ages of 6 and 17 will be $3. Those the age of 5 or under, are free. Additionally we ask the consideration of $8 for those who will feast with us that evening. Please be aware that as per corporate policy, a $3.00 non-member surcharge will be added on top of all other fees for those gentles age 18 and over who are not members of the SCA. This may be sent with your reservation or paid at the door. A sideboard will be served during the day and is included in the event fee. A delectable feast sure to please and delight the senses will be made available to any gentle who pre-registers for feast by November 1st, 2009, please include any dietary restrictions with your registration.
